How Easy? – 1 Peter 4:17-18

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

1 Peter 4:17
For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”

“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” Did you hear that? “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,…” Now, I don’t know about you but in all my years growing up in the church I have never heard that it was hard for believers to be saved.

We find that Peter is actually quoting from Proverbs chapter 12. Though he renders it slightly different from most translations.

Proverbs 12:31
If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner!

Here’s the thing, regardless of how one wants to interpret Proverbs 12:31, it seems pretty clear that believers will not just have a free ticket to the kingdom. He wants us to change.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!

Here's something interesting to consider:
