Lord Willing – James 4:15

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

James 4:15
Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

Now, in order to get this right, let’s read the surrounding text before and after.

13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil.

We don’t know tomorrow. We don’t know next week, next month, or next year. We don’t even know our next minute. Yet, how often do we move right along thinking we are the ones in control? Verse 16 shows how that can lead into boasting and bragging. Which he said is evil.

Remember, He’s in charge. Not you.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
