1 Corinthians 9:26, 27 – Giving orders (May 3)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Tuesday. May 3rd. The 3rd day of the Hebraic week.

Our verses today, like yesterday, are 1 Corinthians 9:26, 27.

26 Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

We closed out yesterday’s devotional asking ourselves if we submit to the flesh or if we make it submit to us? We want to expound on this a little more because we truly believe this is a topic that needs to be covered more in the body of Messiah.

It’s an awkward thought of imagining yourself bowing down to your flesh. Yet, when we give in to it’s desires, that really is the essence of what’s going on. That’s right. It’s as if you are bowing down to yourself. Making yourself your own personal idol. Wow. What a thought huh?

No one would dream of doing such a thing in real life right? Yet, how often do we fall prey in allowing ourselves to do such a thing in the spiritual? Don’t live life casually anymore. Be the drill sergeant over your body. When it come between you and your body, you’re the one who is supposed to be giving the orders.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
