Intent – Proverbs 3:29

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 3:29-30
Do not plot harm against your neighbor, who lives trustfully near you. Do not accuse a man for no reason – when he has done you no harm.

Now, for most, this would seem like an obvious thing right? Don’t accuse someone if they haven’t harmed you. The word for harm here in the Hebrew carries the meaning of “evil”. So don’t accuse someone if they haven’t done evil to you. When someone does evil to you, it’s pretty much when they plan it. Evil isn’t usually something done on accident. It’s done on purpose. So we’re not to accuse someone if you know they didn’t intend to hurt you. Pretty straight forward.

So why give us the obvious? Why are these verses really here? Because emotions can be stirred for many different reasons. Miscommunications. No communications. Misunderstandings. You name it. When emotions begin to flare it’s so easy to let them go and do something we know is not truly deserved by the other party. So be careful in talking to others in accusing someone of something. Don’t plot against them or accuse them of something when you know there was no intent of evil whatsoever done against you.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
