Lamp of the Wicked – Proverbs 21:4

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 21:4
Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin!

This is one of those verses where everyone seems to say “Well, that’s not me.” But isn’t that response in itself kind of describing who the verse is talking about? All too often it seems we are quick to read the scriptures from the perspective that it’s not talking about us. It reminds me of Yashua’s words in Luke 18. Verses 9 through 14 Yeshua gives a parable of two men. He closes out that little parable with these words. “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

The bottom line here is that we need to keep ourselves humble before YHWH. Pride and arrogance has it’s way of creeping into our lives and we have to stand guard against them at all times. Our verse says haughty eyes and a proud heart are considered the lamp of the wicked. Check yourself today. Make it appoint to let His light shine through you and nothing else.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
