Wrong Friends – Proverbs 22:24-25

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 22:24-25
Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared.

So here we are told to avoid people with hot tempers or who are easily angered. If we notice, it’s so we don’t learn their ways. So we don’t allow ourselves to get ensnared with that same temperament. It reminds me of James 1:19-20. “My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.”

Is it a sin to be angry? Of course not. But anger is an emotion that can get out of control quickly if it’s not kept in check. The next time you get angry, remember that verse. Our anger does not bring the righteous life that God desires for us. It will only take us down a path that opposes His ways. So the next time you see someone who is quick or hot tempered, remember, we are encouraged to avoid them for that same reason.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
