Pay Attention! – Proverbs 5:1-2

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 5:1-2
My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen well to my words of insight, that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge.

In a world where attention spans are growing ever shorter and multi-tasking is the art to master, paying attention and listening well is just not a priority for many people. However, for a follower of YHWH, these are a must. Verse 2 says we need them to maintain discretion and preserve knowledge.

What does it mean to maintain discretion and knowledge? It means to retain them and keep it going. If you don’t maintain your vehicle, how long will it last? See the point? The same applies to discretion and knowledge. If we don’t keep them maintained, we can lose them. How many times have we memorized a verse only to forget it later? What happened? We didn’t maintain it.

Let’s face it. Life can get crazy busy at times. But we have to maintain what we have been given. Think of the Latin phrase “Carpe Diem.” It means “pluck the day” as in plucking fruit from a tree or “seize the day.” To Imply we should never waste a moment. What are you doing to maintain discretion and knowledge in your life?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout today. Until next time, Shalom.
