A Good Name – Proverbs 22:1

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 22:1
A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.

Now, that being said, please consider this …

Luke 6:22
Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.

Now, pause here for a moment. We just read “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” Yet, Yeshua just said we are blessed if our name is rejected as evil. He then continues…

23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.

Then a couple verses later he says…

26 Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.

Yeshua’s words make it clear. We shouldn’t focus on having a good name in the eye’s of everyone. The prophets only wanted to have a good name in the eyes of YHWH. Shouldn’t we be the same?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
