Correction – Proverbs 9:7-9

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 9:7-9
Whoever corrects a mocker invites insult; whoever rebukes a wicked man incurs abuse. Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man and he will love you. Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.

The whole point in these verses is to show we can’t just go around trying to correct someone who has no desire of living to the instructions of YHWH. Rebuking someone according to the Torah who has their heart set to the ways of the world will only drive that person farther away from the truth and will put a strong disgust in them towards you and the Word.

However, when bringing correction to a wise and righteous person, well, we know that they will then examine that which you give them and grow from it.

So remember, we are not to judge someone who is not pursuing the same rule book as you are. It will only be received as condemnation. If you want to reach that person, live the life in front of them. Set the example.

And if you see a believer who needs to be corrected, remember, present it to them as you would want them to present it to you.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout today. Until next time, Shalom
