Against All Hope – Romans 4:18

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Romans 4:18
Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

Against all hope, he still believed. Wow. But it doesn’t stop there. Let’s read the next few verses and look how he came to this point.

19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead — since he was about a hundred years old — and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. 20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.

Did you notice how he faced the facts? What’s this tell us? It shows he wasn’t ignoring reality. He simply knew who controlled reality. He knew who could change reality. In spite of what reality was telling him, he trusted the one who held reality in His hands.

Faith doesn’t deny reality. It’s trusting who can change it.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
