July 7 – 1 Peter 1:13 – Prepared

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Thursday. July 7th. The 5th day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is 1 Peter 1:13
Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the mind is the battlefield. It really is. So how well do we prepare our minds? Everything we do or say starts in the mind. So what do we focus on? What do we dwell on? It’s in these that we prepare our minds. The question is “What are we preparing them for?” Are we preparing ourselves victory or for defeat? What are we training our minds for?

The next couple of words say “be self-controlled”. What are we allowing in our minds? Are we being self controlled in that area? Or are we just letting what ever we want to pass right through our thoughts? After all, nobody sees what we’re thinking. Right?

He then says that we should set our hope on the grace to be given us when Yeshua is revealed. Showing what? We are not to rely on works for salvation. Works should be a given for all believers. Yet, our works don’t guarantee our salvation. That only comes through His grace.

So how are you walking in His grace? Are you preparing your mind for action?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!

As the saying goes, ships are safe in the harbor, but that’s not what ships are made for. Likewise, it’s nice to have a comfort zone but we can’t dwell in them 24/7. If we hope to grow any at all, we have to step out of our comfort zone and learn to grow in our...
