Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Thursday January 21st. The 5th day of the Hebraic week.
Our verses today is 2 Chronicles 20:15.
He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what YHWH says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.'”
How easy it can be to look at circumstances in our lives and be discouraged or afraid. We’ve all been there and you might be there right now. Yet, we belong to YHWH. He knows how to take care of His own.
Discouragement and fear can be powerful forces if we allow them to be. They’re like weeds. If they aren’t kept in check, they can overrun any garden or lawn. They’ll choke out everything around them. They can dominate our thoughts if they are allowed to.
So the question for us here is “Are we allowing them to dominate our thoughts?” Think about it. Are you allowing this in your life? Do you focus more on the problems you are facing or on the the one who can solve those problems?
We see multiple times in the scriptures where YHWH commands His people to not fear. Just like we see in this verse today. Fear takes our focus off of YHWH. Is it easy to not focus on fear? Not always. But you can do this. It’s something we have to grow in.
Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
