Jan. 20

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Wednesday January 20th. The 4th day of the Hebraic week.

Our verses today is Ex. 4:13,14

Ex. 4:13
But Moses said, “O Lord, please send someone else to do it.” 14 Then YHWH’s anger burned against Moses…

Continuing from the same story in yesterdays devotion, we see here Moses’ response to YHWH’s call on his life. What do we see? Moses rejected it. He wanted nothing to do with it. He felt inadequate. It seemed as if Moses gave every reason why he couldn’t do what was given to him.

Keep in mind that Moses’ response came after YHWH made his hand leprous and then immediately healed it. After YHWH turned his rod into a snake and then back into his rod again. All the while speaking to him through a burning bush.

How easy it is to look at how small we are when YHWH gives us something to do. But remember, YHWH wants to do things through us. He gives us the strength and ability to do things that we can’t do on our own.

I believe the most interesting thing we find in this story is how we are told that YHWH’s anger burned against Moses. Did you know that this is the first time in all of the scriptures where we see YHWH’s anger mentioned? That’s right. The first time. It wasn’t mentioned with Adam and Eve. It wasn’t mentioned in the story of Noah. It wasn’t even mentioned at the Tower of Babel.

We find YHWH’s anger first mentioned in the scriptures when someone says “no” to their calling.

What’s YHWH calling you to do? Regardless of how big or how small you may feel it is, the bigger question is “Are you saying ‘no’ to Him?”

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
