Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Wednesday January 13th. The 4th day of the Hebraic week.
Our verse today is Philippians 2:12
Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed — not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence — continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,
First, let’s look at the obvious. We are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Now think about that for a second. With fear and trembling. This means that we are to examine our lives in view of YHWH’s holiness. Knowing that He is perfect and He is calling us to walk in His ways. We are to examine our life in fear and trembling. To not take his commands lightly or to look at our sin as something of little consequence.
Most all of us would say “Oh, well, I would never do that.” and I hope that is indeed the case. However, what we say to others and what we do in real life may not always match up. Many have used the phrase “Well, He’s still working on me.” almost as a crutch and excuse for not overcoming their sin. When we say that phrase, or those like it, we have to ask ourselves if we are really acting in fear and trembling of His word.
Look at your life today in light of this verse. Are you growing in your walk with Him? Are you becoming more like him everyday? Are you working out your salvation in fear and trembling?
Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day.
By the way, we’ll be looking at this same verse tomorrow as well.
Until tomorrow, shalom!
