Feb 5

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Friday. February 5th. The 6th day of the Hebraic week.

Picking up from where we left off yesterday, our verse today is 1 Sam. 17:48

1 Sam. 17:48
As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.

As we discussed yesterday, David didn’t put his trust in his own abilities. His faith and trust was founded and set in YHWH. Look at the verse again. The moment Goliath began to position himself against David, David ran to meet the challenge. He didn’t pause for a moment. There was no hesitation in his heart. He knew who he stood for and he knew who was standing behind him.

Of course, we all know how the story ends. David kills Goliath with a sling shot. As verse 50 says…

1 Sam. 17:50
So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.

Don’t look at yourself. Don’t look at what you can or can’t do. That’s completely irrelevant. Your gifts, talents and abilities are nothing if you are not letting YHWH use them. Just as a finely tuned guitar can do nothing without a musician, we can do nothing without YHWH.

Are you letting YHWH use today? Or are you reserved in answering His call in your life because you might be looking at yourself instead of Him? Focus on Him today and everyday.

Let Him work in your life. But it all starts with focusing on Him.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
