Eagerly Desire- 1 Corinthians 14:1

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

1 Corinthians 14:1
Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.

“Eagerly desire spiritual gifts.” When was the last time you prayed for a spiritual gift? The Greek word used for “eagerly desire” actually means to be zealous for or even jealous for. So would the word “zealous” or even “jealous” define how you are for spiritual gifts? Be honest.

The spiritual gifts are something many of us struggle in understanding. However, don’t run from what you don’t understand. I believe that’s a big problem with many of us today. More often than not, we stick only with what we know. Where’s the growth in that? Seriously. Are we willing to be challenged? Or do we just want to live your life in a nice comfy soft chair 24/7? Again, our verse says “Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.”

What would happen if we all started seeking the gifts today like Paul said to? To be zealous for them. What do you think would happen?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
