Dec. 11 – Psa. 119:105

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Friday. Dec. 11th. The 6th day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is Psa. 119:105.

Psa. 119:105
[Nun] Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

I love this verse. It’s a little reminder showing just how important the word of YHWH really is. A lamp. Something that gives us light. It enables us to see around us so we can see where we are and what we’re doing.

A Lamp is not a flash light. It doesn’t shine down the path way so we can see into the future. Oh, there are moments when revelations can come. But none of us can see tomorrow. And even if we have a good idea of what’s coming, we really don’t know how it’s going play out.

It’s a lamp. It lights the immediate area for us. We need it. Ever walk down a path way in complete darkness?

True story here … every evening we have to go put our chickens up. One evening I got to it too late so I had to take a flashlight. So I took this new one we’ve had for about a month. On my way back to the house the flashlight’s battery went dead. I mean dead. It didn’t fade down like NORMAL flashlights, it went dead in an instant. I’ve NEVER had that happen before. It was dark & cloudy. So no stars or moon. It was dark. Thankfully I had my little back up flash light in my pocket to get me back OK. It got me thinking though.

How much of the word do we have? Are we running on Yesterdays “power?” How long will it last you? It was a reminder that we need to get into the word everyday. Everyday.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
